Preparing for a Virtual Home Tour
The condition of the home and site can influence how fast it’s sold/rented. Walk the site and home to ensure the following:
Exterior:
- Practice good curb appeal. Make sure the home exterior is well maintained, and the home site clean and presentable.
- Remove any debris in the yard.
- Remove any cars in the driveway, if possible.
- Remove trash cans from view.
- Pick up any yard toys, hoses, or tools.
- Ensure lawn/snow are freshly mowed and/or plowed.
- Ensure the skirting is in good condition. Replace any skirting as needed.
- Ensure the shutters are in good condition, or paint as needed.
- Ensure the windows are clean and in good condition, free of rips or tears.
Interior:
- Ensure the home is clean and all refurbishing work has been completed.
- Open all blinds/draped and turn on all lights. Replace any light bulbs as needed.
- Clear all kitchen counters of dishes, papers, a fire extinguisher, small appliances, etc…
- Turn off any ceiling fans.
- Remove and store any person photos/picture frames on the refrigerator or anywhere else in the home.
- Close all toilet seat covers.
- Clean bathroom counters, clear away any personal grooming items, and straighten towels and/or items on shelves.
- Clean all mirrors and/or reflected surfaces.
- Clean and/or remove any area or bathroom rugs.
- Clean all hardwood/laminate floors.
- Temporarily remove any pets from the home.
